The Hotel Bagni Vecchi in Bormio is a charming place at 1420 m.a.s.l. with a sweeping view of the large Bormio valley and the surrounding mountains.
Recently restored, it has 36 romantic rooms furnished with original art and antiques from Valtellina. Guests have access to the hotel 'Hot Springs' - Spa and Wellness, with 30 various indoor and outdoor Spa treatments. There is an outdoor panoramic pool and Roman baths which have been used since the first century B.C.
Situated in the resort, guests may also visit the Spa Bagni Nuovi with its indoor and outdoor thermal facilities (baths, pools, sauna, Turkish baths amd more).
The Hotel is located where the ancient Romans founded their Hospitium balneorum and later a xenodochio (free shelter for pilgrims and guests). The hotel was previously a castle and later a convent, the building still maintains the charm of the past: antique wooden floors, old-styled handmade furniture, soft lighting and bathrooms decorated with local stones.
All rooms feature fine furnishing, mini bar, safe, tea and coffee facilities, satellite TV, wifi connection, spa kit, bathroom with shower or bath. Some with panoramic views over the valley or the surrounding forest, some overlooking the internal yard.
There is a restaurant on site, the Antica Osteria Belvedere offering traditional Italian dishes in a casual atmosphere, plus other dining options at the nearby Grand Hotel dei Bagni.
